India defeated England by 106 runs in the second Test at Visakhapatnam. India has now made a comeback and tied the 5-match Test series at 1-1. England won the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs. The third match of the series is scheduled to be played in Rajkot from 15th February.
England started batting on Monday, chasing a target of 399 runs in the second innings, but got all out on 292 runs. India had scored 396 runs in the first innings with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double century, and then got England all out for 253 runs taking a lead of 143 runs. Bumrah took 6 wickets in the first innings.
India lost early wickets in their second innings. But Shubman Gill played a gritty knock and scored his third Test century. This led India to a total of 255 runs in the second innings with a huge lead of 398 runs.
England got a good start in the second innings, but couldn’t maintain the momentum and lost wickets on regular intervals. Opener Jack Kroll played an inning of 73 runs. He scored a half-century for the second consecutive innings. Crawley scored 76 runs in the first innings. Ben Fox and Tom Hartley contributed 36-36 runs in the middle order. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets each. Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel got one wicket each.
Jasprit Bumrah got the Player Of The Match award for his brilliant bowling performance of 9 wickets.
