Joburg Superkings have qualified for the second qualifier of the SA20. They defeated Paarl Royals by 9 wickets in the eliminator. The team scored 138 runs in 18.5 overs. Sam Cook took 4 wickets and became the player of the match.
Paarl Royals did not have a good start, losing 4 wickets for 43 runs. Jason Roy was out after scoring 24 runs. Jos Buttler and Wayne Lube could score only 10 runs and 4 runs respectively. Mitchell Van Buren couldn’t even open an account. Captain David Miller scored 100 runs and the team was reduced to 138 runs in 18.5 overs. Sam Cook took 4 wickets for 24 runs, while Nandre Berger picked up 3 wicket. Imran Tahir and Moeen Ali also contributed to the team’s success.
Chasing the target of 139 runs, Joburg Superkings had a fast start . Captain Faf du Plessis and Les du Plooy contributed more thant 100 runs in 10 overs. Then Du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks pushed the scoreboard to 139 runs in 13.2 overs. Du Plessis remained unbeaten and scored 55 runs while Hendricks was not out after scoring 5 runs.

Joburg will face Sunrisers Eastern Cap in Qualifier-2, who defeated Durban Supergiants by 51 runs in Qualifier-1. The winning team of Qualifier-2 will face Sunrisers at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on 10 February. Sunrisers is also the champion of Season-1 and has made it to the finals for the second consecutive season. It would be interesting to see who is going to be the Champion of SA20 2024 edition.
