BCCI said in a press release on Friday that R Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad due to a medical emergency in his family. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the Indian team fully support Ashwin in his decision. The Board extends its heartfelt support to him and his family. The health and well-being of the cricketers and their family members are of utmost importance. The BCCI urges respect for Ashwin’s and his family’s privacy while they go through this tough time.
The media release further stated that Ashwin will be provided any kind of help and support by the team and the Board. The BCCI will keep the communication lines open to support him as needed. Indian teams appreciate the fans and media’s empathy and understanding during this sensitive period.
On the same day, R Ashwin achieved a great milestone of 500 wickets in Test cricket. He became the fastest bowler in the history to do so. We all cricket fans support Ashwin and pray for his family.
