Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs in Ahmedabad. This victory came as a crucial revival for Gujarat Titans. They were able to dominate the match from the very start. GT now has 12 points in the IPL 2024 points table which gives them hope for qualifying for the playoffs. CSK has 12 points and decent chance for the playoffs due to their good net run rate.

Gujarat Titans batted first after CSK won the toss and chose to field. GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan posted a record-breaking stand of 210 runs. It was the joint-highest opening stand in the history of IPL. Both openers completed their centuries. Shubman Gill scored 104 runs in 55 balls and Sudarshan scored 103 runs in 51 balls. It was the maiden IPL century for Sai Sudarshan. Gujarat Titans reached a total of 231/3 in 20 overs. Tushar Deshpande got 2 wickets at the end for CSK.

CSK started their chase horribly. They lost 3 wickets on 10 runs. Then Mitchell and Moen Ali stabilised the innings. Daryl Mitchell scored 63 runs off just 34 balls and Moeen Ali scored 56 runs off 36 balls. After this CSK’s batting order collapsed under GT’s bowling attack. MS Dhoni in the end scored an unbeaten 26 runs, but CSK could score 196 runs only in 20 overs and lost the match by 35 runs. Mohit Sharma bowled well and got 3 wickets. Rashid Khan was able to pick up 2 wickets.
