The Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs in IPL 2024. It was a crucial match and both the teams needed to win this match to keep their play-off hopes alive. DC is now in 5th place with 14 points in the IPL 2024 points table and are in the fight for play-off qualification. Lucknow Super Giants are in 7th place with 12 points, but they have one match left.
Delhi Capitals batting first, lost their fiery opener Fraser-Mcgurk on a duck. But the youngster Abhishek Porel played an explosive innings. He completed his fifty in just 21 balls and scored 58 runs off 33 balls. In the end, Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 57 runs off 25 balls to push the team score to 208 runs.
Lucknow Super Giants stumbled in their chase initially. Ishant Sharma of Delhi Capitals dismissed three top batters of LSG in the powerplay. Then came Nicholas Pooran, he smashed 61 runs off just 27 balls and put the LSG back in the game. Arshad Khan kept the chase alive by scoring 58 runs in 33 balls. He remained unbeaten but couldn’t reach the target. LSG could score 189 runs only in 20 overs and DC clinched the match by 19 runs. Ishant Sharma became the Player of the Match for his match-winning bowling spell.
