India Won The Ranchi Test By 5 Wickets

India has won the Ranchi Test by 5 wickets on the fourth day. Team India defeated the English team in the second innings with 5 wickets remaining. Dhruv Jurel is the Player of the match. India now has an unbeatable lead of 3-1 in the 5-match Test series. India had a 2-1 lead by winning the Rajkot Test. It means India is going to win the series regardless of the result of the last match. The fifth and last match of the series will be played on March 7 in Dharamsala.

At the start of the 4th day, India needed 152 runs for victory. The team started their second innings batting on the score of 40/0. Shubman Gill was playing with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Both the players scored their half-centuries. Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs and Shubman Gill scored unbeaten 52 runs. Dhruv Jurel scored an unbeaten 39 runs in the run chase. Gill and Jurel made an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs. Young spinner Shoaib Bashir picked up 3 wickets for England while Hartley and Root took 1 wicket each.

The match started on Friday at Ranchi. England opted to bat first after winning the toss. They scored 353 runs in their first innings. Joe Root scored a century. India didn’t have a good start in their first innings, but 90 90-run stand by Dhruv Jurel helped India reach 307 runs. English batting order collapsed in the second innings under the Indian spin attack. R Ashwin picked 5 wickets in the second innings. England could score only 145 runs. India got a target of 192 runs which was chased by India on the 4th day.

India remains in second place on the points table of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. New Zealand is at the top of the table.
