KKR beat MI in IPL at Wankhede after 12 years

Kolkata Knight Riders finally won their IPL match at Wankhede after 12 years. They sealed an important victory against Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai. This ended their losing streak of 12 years at this famous venue. With this win, KKR got another 2 points and solidified their second position at the IPL 2024 points table. While Mumbai Indians faced another defeat and further reduced their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. They are in the second-last position at the points table.

Mumbai Indians chose to bowl first after winning the toss. KKR batting order stumbled initially and they lost 5 wickets under 60 runs. Then came the partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey. They helped KKR reach the score of 169 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara both got 3 wickets. Venkatesh Iyer scored 70 runs off 52 balls.

Mumbai Indians started their chase of 170 runs good, but soon Mitchell Starch bowled Ishan Kishan. After that MI kept losing wickets on regular intervals. This put KKR ahead in the game. Then came Surya Kumar Yadav who score a brilliant 56 runs off 35 balls, but he couldn’t finish the match. KKR spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakarvarthy picked up 2 wickets each and put MI under immense pressure.

Mitchell Starc bowled the 19th over and got 3 wickets in that over. MI were all out and KKR won the match by 24 runs. Starc finally got his rhythm and picked up 4 wickets in the match. Venkatesh Iyer got the Player Of the Match award.
