Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 50 runs in the IPL 2024 in Dharamsala. With this win, CSK has moved to the 3rd place in the IPL 2024 points table. CSK have 12 points now and their hopes for the playoffs are still alive.
Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl. They lost the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane early. Then captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell put on a partnership of 57 runs off 32 balls. They scored 32 and 30 runs respectively. Shivam Dubey was out on a golden duck. CSK then lost multiple wickets in quick succession. MS Dhoni got out on a golden duck by Harshal Patel. Ravindra Jadeja scored an aggressive 43 runs off 26 balls. This helped CSK reach the competitive score of 167 runs. Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar picked up 3 wickets each for PBKS.
Punjab Kings didn’t have a good start in their chase. They lost 2 wickets quickly in the powerplay. Rilee Rossouw was out on a duck. Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh scored 30 and 27 runs respectively. Jitesh Sharma got out on a golden duck. Punjab Kings batting order collapsed after that and they could score 139 runs only in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 wickets for CSK. Tushar Deshpande and Simarjeet Singh got 2 wickets each.
